Please note there is no 24 hour concierge service or reception area at Saltmarsh Farmhouse so if you plan to arrive outside of the 'cafe' opening hours please let us know so we can ensure a 'contactless entry' is available for you.
We hope that you will find the house welcoming and that it will feel like entering your own home in the country, so we ask you to treat our house as respectfully as if it were your own.
During your stay, we ask you to keep your set of house keys with you and don’t let anyone in the house who does not have a key. Please be assured that our house and grounds are kept monitored by surveillance camera’s located at various spots around the grounds and sensor lighting within the public areas including carpark and garden so you are perfectly safe.
How can I contact someone?
Our staff will be available during the opening hours of our onsite café which is between 9am and 4m during weekdays and until 5pm at the weekends. You will be provided with out of hours emergency contact number and additional details required
Can I have dinner at Saltmarsh?
Yes! Our Evening menu should be pre booked by noon on the day of your evening meal requirement. Please ask a member of our team for a copy of our current menu.
Please note, although we don’t operate a full restaurant service in the evenings, your meal will be set up and waiting for you to enjoy at your leisure. Choose a drink from the honesty bar, relax, eat well and leave the dishes for us to clear away before you come down for breakfast.
Do you serve any food during the day?
From 10am we open our café, Saltmarsh Kitchen, to the public in the courtyard. Our variety of sweet and savoury foods include gluten and dairy free options and a large variety of Kent & Sussex teas or coffee of your choice made with locally roasted beans from our friends Tigermoth in Lewes
What Guest amenities do you have?
Our rooms are all stocked with hair and bodywash in reusable bottles, a hairdryer and hangers
Tea and Coffee making facilities are available in all rooms
If you require ironing facilities, please ask a member of our team
We stock a small amount of emergency toiletries for those items that get forgotten as there is no immediate 'shop' locally
Due to our location and the drainage being via Reed bed, we aim to reduce our washing where possible. Your towels will be changed on the 3rd day of your stay but please leave them in your shower should you wish them to be replaced before.
Guests are kindly asked not to take Saltmarsh towels out of the rooms so do bring a beach towel if you’d like to go for a swim in the sea.
All our bedding is cotton with feather Pillows and Duvets with seasonally appropriate tog rating.
If you prefer to have hypoallergenic non feather pillows please let us know in advance.
Temperature & Heating
The Farmhouse is fully serviced by Gas Central heating. The building is well insulated with its thick old walls and it can get warm very quickly so please do let us know if you find yourself too warm (or cold!). Some of our Guest bedrooms and our guest lounge also have open fireplaces that can be lit during the Autumn and Winter seasons.
Honesty Bar & Guest Lounge
Whether it’s a relaxing drink after a bracing walk, curling up to a great book with a glass of wine or simply indulging in a delicious gin & tonic, our guests can make themselves at home at our bar
There is a drinks menu on the bar along with a little book assigned to your room for you to write down what you have had so we can add this to your bill in the morning.
All our wines are sold by the bottle, except the house ones which are clearly labelled. We do request that you use the measure for the spirits and leave the bar tidy for all our guests to enjoy.
We kindly request that you don’t bring your own drinks or food into the restaurant, café, bar or house gardens.
Wi-Fi & Phone Signal
Sadly our Broadband connection is fairly poor so, despite our best efforts, the Wi-Fi is erratic to say the least. Where possible, we highly recommend that you catch up with the news, download your route map, music, book or favourite TV show onto your device before you arrive (especially because we don’t currently have TV’s in the rooms).
