Saltmarsh Farmhouse is surrounded by beauty!
Walking is one of the easiest ways to improve both our physical and mental health and we can’t think of a more beautiful place to walk than the South Downs Way.
If you enjoy exploring the great outdoors, here are our favourite walks nearby to us.
South Downs Way is 100 miles in length which starts in Winchester and ends in Eastbourne. There are long and short walks situated across the South Downs Way National Trail which give you the opportunity to feel like you’re ‘getting away from it all’ without the need to travel far.
There is the opportunity to walk, cycle or go via horseback to cover the entire 160km walk. The trail passes through 5 National Nature Reserves and gives the opportunity to see dozens of stunning wildlife as you go.
Not only is the end (or start!) of the South Downs Way nearby to us at Saltmarsh Farmhouse, we also have Cuckmere Haven on our doorstep, as well as Friston Forest just a stone's throw away.
Cuckmere Valley is home to lots of wildlife and blooming wild flowers. Follow the river down to the pebbly beach where you will see soft chalk and historic artifacts as you breathe in the crisp fresh air.
With fantastic views of the Seven Sisters, Cuckmere Haven is a stunning walk not to be missed.
Friston Forest can be found within the South Downs National Park. The huge woodland makes a perfect family day out. Whether you’re walking or cycling, there is something for everyone.
And of course, once you’ve enjoyed your walk, what better place to stop off for a refreshing drink and bite to eat than Saltmarsh Farmhouse.
Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast to give you some energy before you trek over the South Downs, or a pint and bite with your mates after a bike ride along the Cuckmere River, our kitchen is awaiting you.
