ABOUT CATHERING 'Caz'
Fine artist, Printmaker.

Catherine’s first Studio was at Brancepeth Castle, Durham, home of artists, poets and musicians. She studied at Camberwell school of Arts and Crafts and Kent Institute of Art and Design, Catherine travelled to Maine USA and did an MA taking part in innovative research into Non Toxic Printmaking methods. She returned to UK in 1998 and set up her own Green Print Studio, where she teaches and has focused on making etchings, mono prints solar etchings and kitchen lithographs she has exhibited widely, notably at the RA Summer Exhibition 2015, Houses of Parliament 2016 and Greenwich Heritage gallery.
Catherine is a pioneering printmaker, exploring new processes and non toxic and environmentally friendly materials. She specialises in making etchings and mono-prints and solar etchings inspired by landscape and the figure and their connection to the the sky; natural elements and seasons are recurring themes throughout her work. Her prints capture the ancient and a sense of place and her methods combine old and new, with traditional methods alongside new formats and materials.
Catherine’s art practice includes copper plate etching, mono printing, kitchen lithography, woodcut, lino block print, painting and figure drawing. Catherine works in colour and also mono tone, favouring water based inks, natural inks, plant dyes, watercolour, graphite and charcoal. Her works range from detailed miniatures to expressive colourful large canvases. Her current work is developing a series of landscape etchings exploring the connection between land and sky, translating watercolours and drawings done in situ into etchings.
Catherine leads Creative Walks, directly bringing people into contact with nature through experience with mark making, drawing, painting, on hillsides, woodlands and by the sea.
